The World Needs Prayers

My heart is so full of love. It amazes me as I have at times thought of my self as a heartless person. I have contemplated the sanity of an army of firefighters running into a burning building to save one person. I am glad though that while my brain has a lot of learning to do, my heart overpowers always.

I learned a month ago of a little boy, Gavin, 8 weeks old who was in the hospital fighting for his life with RSV. My prayers have been nonstop for this little child and his family. Today I saw that the day that I learned of his struggle, the day my prayers began, was the day that he passed away. My heart aches for that mother and I weep with her - a woman that I have never met.

I used to consider myself weak or emotionally uncontrolled for being affected by another's struggles. But what the world looks at as a weakness is a blessing from our Heavenly Father. We are told that we should be:

"willing to bear one another’s burdens, that they may be light; Yea, and are willing to mourn with those that mourn; yea, and comfort those that stand in need of comfort, and to stand as witnesses of God at all times and in all things, and in all places that ye may be in, even until death, that ye may be redeemed of God" (Mosiah 18: 8-9).

My prayers also continue for a woman who's one year old son, Bronson, fights for his life after drowning in the bathtub. His fragile life and mind hang in the balance as they hope today will be the day he comes back to them.

I know that our Heavenly Father loves His children. I know that our mortal life is not the end of our life but rather the end of a period of trials and after it, Eternity continues.

I also know that miracles do happen and that I am so blessed to be the mother to one. I know that it was the faith and prayers of our family, friends and many others that helped create the miracle of Angela. She overcame incredible physical challenges from even before birth to be with us today.

As told in Ether 12: "For if there be no faith among the children of men God can do no miracle among them; wherefore, he showed not himself until after their faith."

While death in itself is a miracle (sparing us from eternal deterioration, suffering and pain), being spared from it for a time can also be one.

I know miracles do happen and that our prayers are heard. We can move mountains and do the impossible with faith and prayer. Imagine if we all prayed and asked Heavenly Father to bring peace unto the world, to heal a child, or help someone in need - do you think He would deny such a miracle? We must always keep praying.

There is a blog that posts babies in need of prayers. A fellow blogger had the link on her site. It's here if you are interested.
