Stewardship—a Sacred Trust

Stewardship—a Sacred Trust by Elder Quentin L. Cook talks about how important it is for us to care for our fellowman and ourselves.

What I really liked was how this talk reminded me of the fact that our bodies are our stewardship. We are entrusted with their care and development. When I think of my body in that sense I instantly want to eat better foods and exercise.

When talking of caring for others he said that: "a higher motive is when we serve our fellowmen because that is what we believe God wants us to do." I have really enjoyed working hard to find ways of serving the people around me the last few days. With me it is a very conscious effort and I have to do it in the moment or I forget. When I have taken the time to act for another I know I am doing the right thing and doing what God wants me to.

He talked of how God does not make us do anything, it is up to us. It's funny how the world sometimes feels that by having rules we are being forced to do something. That is so silly. It's funny how the way to show your power and uniqueness right now is to rebel against all rules and authority. That does not make you powerful or better in anyway. Rules are not there to put you down. If we were being forced to live righteously Satan would be here on earth. That is what he wanted us to do be forced to act. Christ knew that the right thing to do would be to give us agency and let us decide our own actions and as a result our own fate.
